Overcoming The Comparison Game

You’ve heard it said so many times before, but it is so difficult to not compare ourselves to other people. Everywhere we go, we are scanning the room for everyone who’s prettier than us, skinnier than us, and seemingly better than us.

Especially when partaking in a new and healthier journey, comparison still occurs. We could feel our very best; yet we still have to compare ourselves to others in order to feel truly better or worse. It is a damaging habit, and it is hard to get rid of.

However, it’s time to make some changes! Spring is here, and cleaning needs to be done! When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see Sally from that party? Do you see Gary from the gym who lifts more weight than you? No, you see you, and that’s all you need to see.

We get so stuck in this comparison pit that we forget to actually continue the journey in living a healthier lifestyle. Yes, we may be still eating the right proportions and doing the correct workouts, but internally, we are as bruised and rotten as a banana after a week of sitting on the kitchen counter.

When we look at ourselves in the mirror, we only see ourselves for a reason. We are important to notice, and we are even more important to take care of. Instead of trying to achieve the goals of someone else, get to know yourself for a change. The beauty of recognizing ourselves is seeing our limits, our highs, our lows, and how we can push further. It’s not a competition against others.

It’s a competition with yourself.

Win it for you.
