When it comes to living a healthier lifestyle, who is in the back of your mind when you are thinking about your future self in the mirror? If you are not thinking of yourself, there is a problem.
There are many of us that have grown up as the punch line of weight-jokes and other comments pertaining to our looks. Even though the perpetrators were equally as awkward-looking teenagers, those words haunt us for the rest of our lives if we let them.
Some of us are in relationships where our partner is slightly pushing us in the direction of looking different. They may want us skinnier, more muscular, tanner, etc.
We all tend to have some sort of backstory as to why we want to live healthier, but it’s time to forget about those opinionated voices, and start thinking about ourselves. If they would rather look at you in a different way, then they can find someone else that looks like what they are wanting.
You are not wrong for looking the way you do. They are wrong for thinking you should look differently. Living a healthy lifestyle will not affect their lives. It will affect yours, so take this opportunity to really find out what you want out of this change. Do you want to have more energy? Do you want to fit in a smaller pant-size? Do you want to stop depending on donuts for comfort? If you want to make a change, make it for yourself.
This new journey is for you and not them. Be a little selfish for once. You deserve it.
